The Satin Skin Story

In the 1980s, many middle aged people with acne were being treated by their doctors with certain acidic skin creams like Retin A, and they discovered that not only did their acne get better, but their fine wrinkles and discolored blemishes disappeared. These people, had sun damage, precancerous skin lesions, wrinkles, discolored blemishes and liver spots, and all these problems seemed to improve.

Many other exfoliating acids were tested and found to produce similar results: Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C); Salicylic Acid (Beta Hydroxy acid); Lactic acid (LacHydrin); Azelic Acids (Azalex); The best, however, turned out to be Glycolic Acid, an alpha hydroxy acid made from citrus fruits.

DOCTORS SKIN CARE PRODUCTS distributes the most complete line of Glycolic Acid creams in the nation. We have a great variety of acid products, from mild to very strong; for those with oily or dry skin; for the face, or for body; for brittle finger nails or calloused feet. Our products are excellent, the best quality, and the most reasonably priced.

Satin Skin works by causing a mild microscopic exfoliation and peeling of the epidermis of the skin. It also rejuvenates the lower portion of the skin, the dermis, by making the dermal collagen more moist, and youthful and flexible. More like baby skin than an old persons skin. Satin Skin removes fine lines and wrinkles, age spots and liver spots. It evens skin color, whether your natural color is dark or light, by fading both dark and light blemishes. Regular use of Satin Skin helps prevent and heal the bruises that occur in thin sun damaged skin, on the tops of the arms and hands.

Continued usage of Satin Skin products is necessary for continued beneficial effects. A small amount should be rubbed into the skin initially once a day. It should be rubbed in alone and with no other moisturizers or creams. Satin Skin will not make you more sensitive to the sun, like Retin A does, but it is a good idea to use sun screen, such as our Satin Skin Sun Gel SPF17, every day to prevent additional sun damage, which the Satin Skin is trying to reverse.

If any of the Satin Skin products cause irritation, stop for several days and then restart, using a very small amount. You should start with lower strength products, and very slowly work up to stronger products.

The strength of any acidic skin product, like glycolic acid is measured by both the level of acidity, called pH and the amount of available glycolic acid, called the free acid level. The strongest products have low pH, which means high acidity and high free acid, which means a lot of available glycolic acid to do the job.
